How Our Hand Car Wash Process Works

Every car deserves individual care, which is why every wash at Prime Hand Carwash and Cafe is completed by hand using quality cleaning products and proven techniques.

Our process is designed to remove dirt, road grime, and everyday contaminants while helping maintain your vehicle's finish.

  • Car Assessment: Before washing begins, we inspect your vehicle to identify areas that require extra attention, including wheels, lower panels, bug splatter, and bird droppings.
  • Pre-Rinse: The car is thoroughly rinsed to remove loose dirt and debris before hand washing starts. This helps minimise the chance of dirt being dragged across the paintwork during cleaning.
  • Wheel & Tyre Cleaning: Wheels, tyres and wheel arches are cleaned separately to remove brake dust, road grime and built-up contaminants that often require additional attention.
  • Professional Hand Car Wash: Using premium car wash products and clean microfibre wash mitts, every panel is carefully washed by hand to achieve a thorough clean while helping protect your car's paint.
  • Drying & Finishing Touches: After a final rinse, the car is hand-dried with soft microfibre towels before finishing touches, such as tyre shine, window cleaning, and selected package inclusions, are applied.

For drivers looking for longer-lasting paint protection, we also recommend our Ceramic Coating and Paint Protection services.

Hand Carwash vs Automatic Carwash

Both hand car washes and automatic car washes are designed to clean your vehicle, but they offer very different levels of care. If maintaining your vehicle's appearance is important, a professional hand car wash provides greater attention to detail and helps protect your vehicle's finish over time.

If you're unsure which option is right for your vehicle, read our guide on Hand car wash vs Automatic car wash to understand the differences and choose the best option for your needs.

Professional and detailed car wash! Wonderful staff!

Lynn Lin

Absolutely incredible service! Scratched my car badly on a poll and thought I’d need to spend $$$ to repair. After one polish at Prime the car looks brand new!

Poppy

What a great service and quality job. I was very impressed with the care taken here, the time efficient service. Had a full detail and even the smallest of spots were cleaned outside and inside. Best I had so far and I have lots of cars done. Thank you so much I purchase the pack for the year and I never do that elsewhere as I haven’t found any others doing this great job.

Tommy Gudda

Outstanding work by the team at Prime Carwash. They really care about doing a quality job and it shows. Lewi sent me here and I totally understand the recommendation.

Ömer Barano

I have purchased the yearly membership for the past 2 years which has been brilliant. I bring my car once a week for a standard wash and get detailing done every few weeks for a great price!

Aran Brown

Amazing experience with Lucky! My car is victim to three medium to large dogs that are constantly in and out (puddles/dirt/drool /you name it) Lucky took alot of care and patience when detailing my car - the results was outstanding and I would recommend him to everyone who needs to show their car a little love this summer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Hand washing should not scratch paint when the right products, clean wash tools and careful methods are used. Scratches usually happen when dirt is dragged across the paint with dirty sponges, harsh brushes or poor washing habits. A professional hand car wash helps reduce that risk.

  • The $22 Exterior Wash includes an exterior hand wash, towel dry and wheel clean. SUV and 4WD vehicles may have an extra charge because larger vehicles need more time, product and manual cleaning.

  • Choose an exterior wash if your car mainly needs dirt and road grime removed. Choose wash and wax if you want extra shine and light surface protection after the wash. Wax is useful for cars exposed to sun, rain, bird droppings and coastal air.

  • A basic exterior hand wash is usually quicker, while inside-and-out packages take longer. The time depends on the vehicle size, how dirty the car is and the package selected. Detailing services take longer than a regular hand car wash.

  • SUVs and 4WDs usually cost more because they are larger, have more surface area and often collect more dirt around wheels, lower panels and rear areas. They take more time, water, product and manual effort to clean properly.

  • A hand car wash can remove fresh bird droppings, bugs and road grime, but older marks may need detailing, bug removal, polishing or paint correction. It is better to clean these contaminants quickly because they can stain or damage the paint if left too long.

  • A professional hand car wash provides individual attention to every vehicle, allowing areas such as wheels, trims and lower panels to be cleaned more thoroughly. When quality products and proper techniques are used, hand washing also helps minimise the risk of swirl marks compared to some automated wash systems.

  • Walk-ins are welcome for our standard hand car wash packages, making it easy to visit when it suits you. If you're booking Car Detailing Black Rock, Ceramic Coating Melbourne, or another premium vehicle care service, we recommend contacting our team to arrange a suitable time.

  • Most vehicles benefit from a professional hand wash every two to four weeks, depending on how often they are driven and where they are parked. If your vehicle is regularly exposed to coastal conditions, tree sap, bird droppings or road grime, more frequent washing can help maintain its appearance and protect the paintwork.
